Miami Horror, led by Australian-born, LA-based producer Benjamin Plant, returns with a poignant new album after a nine-year hiatus. The upcoming record is a deeply personal exploration of childhood, growing up, and the universe's interconnectedness. Inspired by Plant's lifelong fascination with the cosmos, the album delves into existential themes and the human condition. The album sees Miami Horror collaborating with a myriad of exciting Australian collaborators including Telenova, Tim Ayre, Woodes, Beckah Amani, Ngaiire, and ARIA-nominated producer Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Tate McCrae, The Knocks), amongst other international names like RAC, Robotaki, Ayoni, and more.
Since their breakout with their debut record, Illumination, Miami Horror has navigated the evolving music industry landscape, exploring and evolving their sound. Their catalogue is highlighted by anthems such as 'Leila,' 'I Look To You (feat. Kimbra),' 'Real Slow (feat. Sarah Chernoff),' and standout singles from the debut album 'Holidays (feat. Alan Paloma)' and 'Sometimes.' They've garnered acclaim from Billboard, NPR Music, Forbes, MTV, Pitchfork, Stereogum, and many others while gracing the stages of festivals such as Coachella, Governors Ball, Electric Forest, Splendour in the Grass, Beyond the Valley, Just Like Heaven, Funka Fest in Ecuador, and Corona Capital Festival in Mexico.
Miami Horror's latest work marks a return to artistic freedom. Plant, embracing modern sampling techniques, incorporates disco, soul influences, and even movie snippets to create a cohesive narrative experience. This album transcends individual tracks, offering a sonic odyssey that reflects on the human experience and the enduring power of music to connect us all.
'Against soulful piano chords, kaleidoscopic synths, and a couple infectious vocal samples, 'Together' is the earworm that keeps on giving. In short, it's great to have Miami Horror back.' - Consequence
